PDSA PetAid Scheme

PDSA (People's Dispensary For Sick Animals) PetAid is a scheme under which the sick or injured pets of needy owners can receive essential treatment from the Cater Veterinary Practice,in return for a small donation. The cost of treatment is paid for by the PDSA but is only given to those who qualify for PDSA help and whose animals are registered with the PDSA. Please note that non-essential treatment such as vaccinations, flea treatment, home visits are not covered by the scheme. Only one pet per household can be covered under the scheme

We can register you as a PDSA client if you live within the LL30, LL31 or LL32 postcode areas and are currently in receipt of either Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit. You will need to register before any treatment is needed.

You will be asked to complete a simple application form, which must then be handed back to us for signing by the vet and sending to the PDSA. The application form must be accompanied by:

(1) A £5 postal order (made payable to PDSA) to assist with administrative costs.
(2) A photocopy of documents proving that you are in receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit. (Please do not send originals.)

If you cannot find the required documents there is a section on the form that can be used to obtain proof from your Housing Office that you receive Housing or Council Tax benefit.

Please ask at Reception for an application form and information leaflet. The PDSA relies entirely upon public support to maintain its services and without the generosity of pet lovers could not continue its charitable work.

You can learn more about their work by visiting their website at www.pdsa.org.uk.
